[I want to go to Incheon]

Midsummer night, the feast of pouring starlight and the Milky Way

'Korea's Galápagos' Gulupdo

Gureopdo Island, which was named because "it seems like a person is working face down," is characterized by being able to appreciate the sky, sea, and grassland all at once.

This place boasts unspoiled mystery enough to be called 'Korea's Galápagos', and its beauty is so exquisite that it is considered a must-visit destination for Koreans.

Located 90km southwest of Incheon and 13km southwest of Deokjeokdo Island, Gureopdo Island has an area of 1.71km² and a coastline length of 12km. It is a small island with less than 20 residents.

The topography of the island consists of hills with an altitude of less than 100m above sea level, and the coastline has severe curves. It is characterized by the solid stratum structure of granite and convenient conditions for maritime transportation. The highest point on the island is Mount Deokmul, which is 122 meters above sea level.

As the soil is fine soil, no crops other than sweet potatoes and peanuts are grown, but seaweed and oysters are harvested along the coast, and various other marine products are abundant. Wild deodeok and black goat are famous local specialties.

The population is small and the area is small, and most of the island is surrounded by mountains, so there are few artificial facilities such as convenience facilities. Thanks to this, the beautiful natural environment remains intact, making it an ideal spot for travelers and photographers who want to feel nature as it is. In addition, it is popular with campers because there are few lights, so you can enjoy the Milky Way along with the starlight pouring down on summer nights.

"A place where you can enjoy the sky, sea and grassland all at once"

In particular, Guleopdo Beach is the representative beach of Guleopdo Island, an island 85 km away from Incheon Port. There is a fine sandy beach with a width of 40m and a length of 800m, a forest area providing cool shade, and two more slanting beaches on the left and right sides of the beach, making it the best place for both tourists who want to escape the heat and anglers who want to enjoy fishing.

The beach about 1km away from Guleopdo dock is often called 'Keunmal Beach'. 'Keunmal' is an abbreviation for Big Village, which is located under the island's only village, Keunmal. In Keunmal, about 10 households live by running an accommodation business for travelers. Unless you are backpacking on Gaemeori Hill or somewhere on the island, travelers have to settle for a place to sleep on a big horse, so Gureopdo Beach in front of the village is the beach most visited by island visitors.

Gureopdo Island's main tourist attractions include two beaches, Gueop Beach and Mokgimi Beach, as well as Deokmulsan Mountain, Yeonpyeongsan Mountain, Gaemeori Hill, Rabbit Island, and Elephant Rock.

To go to Guleopdo Island, you need to take a passenger boat that runs once a day from the Incheon Coastal Passenger Terminal, arrive at Deokjeokdo Island, and then change boats. However, vehicles can enter only up to Deokjeokdo Island, and you cannot bring your car into the excavation road.
