A bill has been proposed to support it and promote the commercialization of UAM as Incheon is preparing to take a leap toward "UAM (Urban Air Metro) Leading City."
Heo Jong-sik, a member of the National Assembly. Incheon-si Dong-gu Michuhol-gu First. The Democratic Party of Korea) said, "We have proposed a special bill on promoting the commercialization of urban air traffic, which aims to promote role sharing and close cooperation between local and central governments to promote the commercialization of UAM."
Looking at the main contents of the bill, the main contents of the bill included in the urban air traffic-related businesses : ▲ establishment of a basic plan for urban air transportation (5 years) ▲ establishment of a special committee for urban air transportation and local government participation ▲ designation of a pilot area for urban air transportation through national-local consultation ▲ Designation of an urban air traffic pilot operation area through consultation between the state and local governments ▲ Administrative and financial support from the state and local governments.
In particular, while the government plans to enact and support the UAM Special Bill in the second half of this year with the aim of commercializing UAM by 2025, while the role of the central government for the commercialization of initiative UAM by People Power Party is mainly specified, it has strengthened the role of local governments by specifying cooperation between the central and local governments.
In this regard, Heo Jong-sik said, "Unlike existing air transportation projects, local governments' role sharing and close cooperation are essential. In the process of promoting UAM commercialization, we have established a close cooperative system between local and central governments to promote commercialization as well as to contribute to improving public transportation convenience by creating a safe and efficient navigation foundation for UAM.
""UAM is drawing attention as a future transportation system that can solve various social problems such as increased social costs and environmental pollution," he said. "The bill is expected to expand Incheon's airport economy as it leads Incheon International Airport to UAM as well as to create infrastructure for the commercialization of Incheon's UAM in conjunction with the selection of a drone special liberalization zone in Ongjin-gun, Incheon."
Earlier in February last year, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport selected Incheon Jawoldo, Ijakdo, and Deokjeokdo Island in Ongjin-gun, as "drone special liberalization zones," and plans to ease regulations such as ▲ stability certification ▲flight approval ▲special air traffic certification ▲radio certification.
In addition, the Incheon announced its plan to install Verti-port that can take off and land UAMs in five places, including ▲Incheon International Airport ▲Cheongna Robot Land ▲Gyeyang Techno Valley ▲Songdo 11th District ▲Incheon Gil Hospital.
Meanwhile, 10 lawmakers, including Heo Jong-sik, Kim Kyo-heung, Park Sung-joon, Park Chan-dae, Shin Jung-hoon, Yoo Dong-soo, Lee Dong-joo, Lee Sung-man, Jeon Jae-soo, and Han Byung-do, participated in the joint proposal.
